ZEISS Supreme Prime Radiance "Sapphire" 7-Lens Set - Imperial, PL Mount

ZEISS Supreme Prime Radiance lenses enable cinematographers to create beautiful and consistent flares with a level of control that is simply not possible with vintage or re-housed optics. This is made possible by a newly developed ZEISS T* blue lens coating. Under normal lighting, Supreme Prime Radiance lenses render like modern, versatile cinematography lenses. With the right lighting, however, Radiance lenses start to flare. Cinematographers can now plan their implementation of lens flares, rather than relying on unforeseen, uncontrollable effects and blind luck. Overall, the look of Supreme Prime Radiance lenses is a touch warmer than Supreme Primes, though they still retain all other exceptional features of regular Supreme Prime lenses.

New T* blue Coating

ZEISS set out to understand the appeal of lens flares and their accompanying "look", talking to cinematographers and experts, screening countless feature films and simulations, and receiving feedback from around the world. They ultimately realized that defining beautiful flares wasn't about merely reproducing the effects of a vintage or uncoated lens, but rather required deconstructing a lens flare and recreating it from scratch, the ZEISS way. Once the desired end result was understood, rather than just utilizing uncoating lens elements, ZEISS revisited their T* coating formulae and reworked them to create T* blue. This ensured that the resulting flares could be planned and reproduced, while also maintaining contrast and avoiding transmission loss that one normally experiences with uncoated lens elements.

Complimentary to Existing Supreme Primes

ZEISS Supreme Prime Radiance lenses are sold as a 7-lens "Sapphire" starter set (featured), 4-lens "Ruby" upgrade set, or 11-lens "Diamond" complete set. Although rendering slightly warmer than regular Supreme Primes, Radiance primes pair very well with them (this is the reason ZEISS decided to forego offering the more extreme focal lengths on both ends of the range that regular Supremes offer). The user can easily mix and match as needed.

Interchangeable Mount System 

All ZEISS Supreme Prime lenses are equipped with an easy interchangeable mount system, which enables a quick change from PL-mount to LPL-mount and back, as needed. This proven feature offers tremendous flexibility and represents a futureproofing investment, given the industry's rapidly changing digital cinema camera market. Each of the three mounts has a lens metadata interface for transferring ZEISS eXtended Data to the camera.

NOTE: The focus scale of the Supreme Prime Lenses can be easily switched between feet and metric scale by removing the front barrel and reversing the focus ring. Metric scale lenses are available by special order only; please allow an additional 6-8 weeks for delivery.
