Overview
The Venus Optics Laowa 12mm T2.9 Zero-D Cine Prime is currently the widest T2.9 maximum aperture lens that can cover both Full Frame and VistaVision sensors, making it an ideal wide angle option for both professional cinema cameras and mirrorless cameras.
"Future Proof" Solution
A large image circle enables cinematographers to pair this lens with Full Frame sensors (Size = 43.14mm), the wider Vista Vision sensors on cameras like RED MONSTRO and the ARRI ALEXA LF (Size @ open-gate = 44.7mm), and Super35 cameras (with an ultra-wide 18mm equivalent field of view).
Compact, Lightweight Design
This Laowa 12mm is extremely compact and lightweight, measuring 3.4" (87mm) in length and weighing less than 1.5 lb (675 g). It can be easily paired with many stabilization systems, including handheld gimbals. The entire enclosure of the lens is constructed from aluminum alloy, featuring standard 0.8 mod gears on both iris and focus rings for easy installation of your follow-focus system.
Near-Zero Distortion
Venus Optics has compressed optical distortion to a close-to-zero level, avoiding the typical 2-4% distortion rate of ultra-wide angle lenses. The "Zero-D" claim has been validated by many Laowa lens owners from all around the world.
