Overview
EditShare HP ProCurve 2920 24G Switch - 24 Ports is a switch to allow a 10-Gigabit Ethernet connection between your EditShare server and this switch to provide bandwidth for transferring data from your RAID arrays to the switch. Switch provides 24x Gigabit Ethernet connections.
10-Gigabit Switches allow for the simplest network configuration and high volume HD workflows. This capacity helps provide you with a big pipe without bottleneck points in your workflow.
This Switch is compatible with your EditShare Xstream. It improves network effeciency and supports high speed data transfer so you can process high volume workflows and stream content.
You typically connect your workstations to the 1-Gigabit Ethernet ports on the switch (via standard CAT-6 cables), which provide a dedicated 1-Gigabit connection for each workstation, This is often more than ample for most workflows. In addition, you can connect your office network to the 10-Gigabit switch and have seamless access to the rest of your office network (for example, printers, file servers, and the Internet). This effectively places the EditShare server and all the workstations on a single network.
If you have some workstations that need to work in uncompressed HD or that need to edit complex sequences requiring many layers of video and audio, you can connect these workstations to the switch via 10-gigabit Ethernet as well to obtain the necessary data throughput.
