The "X" lens features a unique Nano Surface Coating for minimal ghosts and flaring, superb image rendering for lifelike textures, crisp edge-to-edge contrast, and natural atmospheres with remarkable transparency.

Compact Retractable Lens Barrel Design

Although the lens is a zoom, the retractable-type design boasts outstanding compactness with approx. 1.05" (26.8mm)⁴ length and 0.2 lb (95 g) weight. The incredibly short overall length is achieved by the use of (4) aspherical lenses. The zoom lever on the lens barrel gives the user stable zooming while manual focusing is also available with a manual focus lever for more precise control.

Premium Lens Design

This lens offers a versatile zoom range of 14-42mm (35mm camera equivalent: 28-84mm), suitable for a wide range of scenes, from dynamic landscape to portrait. Comprising 9 elements in 8 groups, the lens system features excellent contrast over the entire zoom range. The (4) aspherical lenses help improve optical performance by minimizing distortion, even at the wide end (28mm). Two ED (Extreme Dispersion) lenses effectively compensate for chromatic aberration.

Panasonic's Nano Surface Coating technology is adopted to minimize the reflection across the entire visual light range (380nm-780nm) by applying the extra-low refractive index coating with nano-sized structure on the surface of the lens. It results in the super clear picture with dramatic reduction of ghost and flare.

POWER O.I.S.

The POWER O.I.S. (Optical Image Stabilizer) makes it easy to shoot super clear shots even in low-lit situations, such as at night or indoors. With the improved sensitivity of the gyro sensor, the new POWER O.I.S. suppresses large, slow movement 2x more effectively².

Support for Light Speed AF

When mounted on a LUMIX G Micro System camera, users can take advantage of the contrast AF system its convenient functions. With an inner focus system driven by a stepping motor, the superior optical design realizes outstanding smoothness and achieves approx. 0.1 second Light Speed AF¹. By speeding up the aperture control, shutter time lag is also shortened by ~40% compared with the LUMIX G VARIO 14-42mm / F3.5-5.6 ASPH. / MEGA O.I.S.³.

Focus and Aperture Design

With its minimum focus distance of 7.9" (0.2m) at 14-21mm / 11.1" (0.3m) at 21-42mm, this lens provides a maximum photographic magnification of 0.34x (35mm equivalent). (7) aperture blades in a circular aperture diaphragm produces an attractive bokeh (smoothness in out-of-focus areas), even when shooting at wide/open aperture.

Available in black (sold separately) or silver (included), the new LUMIX G X VARIO PZ 14-42mm/F3.5-5.6 ASPH./POWER O.I.S. perfectly matches any color of cameras from LUMIX G Micro System.
