The breakthrough of stacked sensor integration delivers a 2x increase in read-out speed compared to a conventional 1.0 sensor for stunning 120fps slow motion in Full HD and 4K recording. A full pixel readout helps realize the potential of the big 1.0-inch type sensor - there's no need for pixel binning or line skipping which can result in moiré effects. This camcorder also features built-in, advanced networking capabilities to live stream content and achieve a wireless workflow.

Recording & Image Performance

Catch every moment in up to 120 frames per second (fps) High Frame Rate continuous recording, in Full HD quality. The Clear Image Zoom technology operates at 24x zoom and 18x zoom in HD and 4K modes respectively, in addition to the standard optical 12x zoom. The single 20 megapixel 1.0-inch type large sensor size offers clear pictures even in low light, giving filmmakers superb clarity and sharpness, opening up the opportunities for flexible shooting in a variety of environments.

The PXW-Z150 offers a change in image capture in its class with 4K QFHD (3840x2160) using the advanced XAVC Long GOP 100Mbps codec with its advanced 1.0-inch type Exmor RS CMOS sensor. This high performance Exmor RS CMOS sensor ensures 4K image capture without binning which makes the image quality the highest in its class.

This camcorder can capture 4K XAVC Long GOP at 100Mbps, Full HD recording in HAVC Long GOP (4:2:2/10-bit 50Mbps), and MPEG-2 HD (50Mbps/35MBp2). You can also use AVCHD (Advanced Video Coding High Definition) to further expand workflow flexibility.

Dual Media Slots

To extend recording times and workflow flexibility, the PXW-Z150 is equipped with two memory card slots and is compatible with SDXC and SDHC cards.

RELAY mode automatically switches recording from the first to the second memory card when the first is full, while SIMUL mode permits simultaneous recording to two memory cards (for example to create an immediate back-up version).

Wi-Fi® Abilities

In response to rising expectations in the fast paced corporate industry, users can now enjoy live streaming capabilities and FTP wireless with built-inWi-Fi® abilities. Sony's unique QoS technology* dramatically improves the clarity that is possible on a wireless connection, giving you better pictures even with the limitations of today's real-world networks. You can also remotely control the PXW-Z150 with a smartphone or tablet, including the ability to adjust settings such as focus, zoom, iris, white balance, REC START/STOP and more using Sony's Content Browser Mobile** software.

12x Lens Included

The premium 12x zoom lens for the camcorder specifically designed for 4K imaging, giving you high resolution and contrast from the center, right to the edge of your picture. The advanced Clear Image Zoom feature doubles magnification to 18x when shooting in 4K QFHD and 24x in HD, maximizing the performance of the camcorder's large 1.0-inch type stacked sensor.

Continuous Slow Motion

Continuously record up to 120fps in Full HD to create 5x slow motion video. There's no sacrifice in bit depth and no windowing of the sensor so there's virtually no crop factor or loss in angle of view.

Integrated Features

One of the additional advantages of the Sony PXW-Z150 camcorder is the integrated features which reduce your need for adding bulky accessories. A built-in four position ND filter means no need to carry a box of filters, MI Shoe eliminates cabling when fitting a microphone or even an on-board light. Advanced networking capabilities include built-in Wi-Fi® for live streaming and FTP wireless connection***, greatly increasing your mobility, while the camcorder can also be controlled by a smartphone or tablet using Wi-Fi remote.

The Multi-Interface (MI) Shoe provides power, signal connections, plus coordinated on/off switching to compatible Sony accessories. Sony cites these two wireless microphone systems and on-board lighing as possible accessories (sold separately): UWP-D11 or UWP-D12 and the HVL-LBPC Light.****

Connectivity Options

A wide variety of built-in connectivity options are included in the PXW-Z150 such as 3G-SDI, HDMI®, Multi/Micro USB, professional audio XLR terminals, REMOTE and Composite (RCA). A supplied cold shoe adaptor kit from Sony, provides you with more flexibility for mounting accessories.

Ergonomic Body with High Resolution Monitoring

The PXW-Z150 camcorder is ergonomically designed to provide a lightweight and easy-to-use shooting experience. Three manual, independent lens rings enable smooth, natural adjustment of focusing, zooming, and iris control. The camcorder can also be used in full-auto mode or completely manual for maximum creative control.

The OLED electronic viewfinder EVF on the PXW-Z150 camcorder includes a large eyecup, plus high contrast 0.39 type 1440K dots. An adjustable, flip-out 3.5" (diagonal) 1550K dots LCD panel delivers camera control and settings.
