Beachtek DXA-ALEXA Preamplifier for ARRI ALEXA Mini Camera

The Beachtek DXA-ALEXA Preamplifier provides all the features you need to expand your ARRI ALEXA Mini camera with on-board audio. The DXA-ALEXA offers dual gain controls, phantom power, level indicators, and headphone monitoring. Tri-color LED level indicators make it a snap in setting the proper recording levels.

These ultra low-noise preamplifiers provide exceptional performance with over 100dB in dynamic range. The (2) XLR inputs are transformer-balanced for galvanic isolation and high common mode rejection.

The output is a balanced 5-pin XLR that connects directly to the 5-pin Lemo input on the camera via an optional cable. There is also an auxiliary mic level output via an unbalanced stereo mini-jack so it can be connected to a variety of other recording gear.

Power is supplied to the DXA-ALEXA from your rig via a 2-pin Lemo connector.

With the included bracket, you can mount the preamplifier in several ways to the camera cage. When using the ARRI ALEXA Mini camera cage, you can mount it under the handle, side bracket or anywhere with an optional V-Lock. The bracket has captive thumb screws to easily add or remove the preamplifier from the camera. The base of the preamplifier has three threaded 1/4"-20 holes to also allow it to be mounted to the rails via a third party rail bracket.

The DXA-ALEXA is also ideal for use with other mini cinema cameras such as the RED DSMC2 models.

BeachTek DXA-CINE 2-Channel Preamplifier for Cinema Cameras

The BeachTek DXA-CINE is a compact, 2-channel preamp suited for cinema cameras, such as your ARRI ALEXA Mini or RED DSMC2. With the BeachTek DXA-CINE adapter, you can record high-quality audio directly to your cinema camera with no syncing required. The low-noise preamplifiers provide exceptional performance with 60dB of gain and over 100dB in dynamic range.

Connect - Control - Monitor

Verify your signals at a glance with built-in Low/Good/Over level indicators. Trim controls allow you to adjust the output signal for optimum recording. The phone jack lets you monitor the audio from the adapter during recording, or camera during playback. You can also loop the output audio from your camera back into the adapter to monitor confidence sound if your camera has a headphone jack.

Ideal for Mini-Plug Microphones

Use either stereo or mono microphones with the BeachTek DXA-CINE preamp. (2) mono and (1) stereo 3.5mm input with plug-in power work with virtually any camera-mounted mic or lapel mic that operates on plug-in power. Also ideal for use with wireless mics.

Optional XLR to 3.5mm cables are available for use with your self-powered balanced XLR microphones.

Line Level Outputs

Provides both a +4dBu balanced output via a 5-pin XLR connector and an optional cable for connection to balanced mic inputs such as your ARRI ALEXA Mini, and a +4dBu unbalanced output via a 3.5mm jack with your included cable for connection to the RED DSCM2 module.

2nd Channel for Backup

Audio Bracketing establishes a 2nd channel for backup purposes. You can choose audio bracketing when using a single mono microphone to have a backup channel that is recorded at a lower level. This provides you with a safety track in case the primary channel gets distorted from an overly hot input.

Flexible Mount Options

Use the captive thumbscrew with 1⁄4"-20 mounting bolt to attach to threaded holes. (3) built-in 1⁄4"-20 threaded inserts allow you to attach multiple accessories. You can also attach the DXA-CINE to a hot shoe via the removable brass mounting foot.
