Our Lead Integration Engineer Ben Meadors has a story about how he saved time, sweat, and tears at last year’s NAB with EditShare software:
EditShare Field 2 was such a time saver for the production team during NAB 2016. Last year, AbelCine decided to change up the booth. In addition to the many blog videos we produce at NAB, we added a live presentation area. We set it up with a TriCaster 460, some Panasonic HE130s, and a tiny control room. I was in charge of editing all video content, which included packaging the recorded content from the TriCaster and cutting together all the blog videos.
Since we were adding more content, I wanted to speed up our workflow as much as I could. Using shared storage would allow me, the TriCaster operator, and our marketing team to collaborate much faster since all our media would live in a single location.
I set up the TriCaster to ingest directly to the EditShare Field over Ethernet. I also connected my edit machine, render machine and our marketing team’s computer. This allowed the live presentations to be recorded directly to the Field, so I could bring them into Premiere as soon as possible and package them for delivery. This setup also allowed me to edit on one computer while rendering out on another computer, which reduced the time it took to get a blog video edited, rendered, and uploaded to YouTube. Finally since the marketing team was also connected to the Field unit, they could review and approve the videos through Flow Browse, and put markers and comments on a timeline, which I could bring back into Premiere and work with.
All said and done, the EditShare XStream Field 2 allowed us to put out 30 blog videos and 11 presentation videos over the 4 days of the expo. We wouldn’t have been able to do it otherwise, and it’s now a permanent part of the booth setup.
The EditShare Field is perfect for small production teams that still want to collaborate and share assets, without having a set of drives for each team member. Its built-in asset management system called Flow allows for tagging, custom metadata, sequence building, and many other cool features.
