With its unique retro-style design, CameoGrip can be mounted beneath a Sony Alpha mirrorless camera for greater stability, to the handgrip of a shoulder-mounted camera via the included rosette adapter, or on the pan-arm of a tripod using a 3rd-party adapter. In any configuration, it provides ergonomic support and access to important controls. These controls are positioned for easy and comfortable access, and their functions can be reassigned to suit the operator’s preference.
CameoGrip is compatible with most cameras with LANC remote ports, as well as Sony cameras with a multi-terminal port. CameoGrip has been tested with Sony FS5, FS7 and Alpha series cameras, the Canon C100 / MK II, C200, C300 / MK II, and the Panasonic EVA1. The two-axis joystick allows for zoom control on most lenses with a zoom motor, and iris control also works on most lenses that have electronic pairing for this function. Jesse Rosen, CameoGear Lead Engineer, brought all his experience as a DP to the design of the CameoGrip. “CameoGrip was inspired by the current generation of small mirrorless cameras. I realized a Bolex-style grip would be the perfect way to support their compact form factor, while keeping them light. But I didn’t want to stop with a simple mechanical device,” he explained. “Instead, I imagined all the ways a tool like this could be used in the field.” Through extensive prototyping and user feedback, CameoGrip was developed as the answer to many common production scenarios, which is exactly the philosophy behind the entire CameoGear line.
CameoGrip is constructed for years of reliable use with a solid aluminum spine and high-quality materials and connectors used throughout. It can also receive new features by means of future firmware updates. Each CameoGrip includes an ARRI rosette adapter and either a LANC or Sony multi-terminal cable.
CameoGrip retails for $799 with initial availability through B&H Photo, followed shortly by AbelCine.
