AbelCine Announced as the North American Rental Partner for Vision Research’s Specialty Camera
With the lowest noise and highest dynamic range of any global shutter Phantom camera, the Onyx produces stunning images. At over 12,000 fps at 1920x1080 resolution, it is four times faster than any other Phantom camera in HD. The Onyx has been optimized for cinema production with a specially designed optical low pass filter to reduce aliasing and moiré caused by the sensor’s Bayer pattern color filter array. Interchangeable lens mounts and multiple recording modes make for an extremely versatile camera, and data can be quickly and securely moved from the camera with a familiar CineMag workflow.
“We are thrilled to offer the Phantom Onyx to clients who demand the ultimate in high-speed technology,” said Mike Nichols, AbelCine’s Business Development Manager. “The camera fits the demands of projects that need the maximum in terms of frame rate and resolution, such as VFX, commercial, and tabletop applications. The Onyx delivers images that go beyond what the already impressive Phantom Flex line can do as Vision Research continues to break new ground in cinematic high-speed capture.”
“AbelCine has been our valued partner since 2007, when they helped introduce the original Phantom cameras to the entertainment market,” said Toni Lucatorto, Media Products Manager for Vision Research. “With a proven track record of bringing high-speed imaging to the cinema market, we’re excited to work with them to launch Phantom Onyx as our first rent-only, specialty high-speed camera.”
In order to support North American rental houses who currently offer Phantom cameras, the Phantom Onyx will be made available for sub-rental to these partners through AbelCine.
