RED has long produced various sensors in order to better serve the needs of a wide variety of production environments. With the GEMINI, they have arrived at a sensor and camera body package that truly covers the largest range of shooting situations. Rumored to have been developed to handle the rigors of filming in space, the newest sensor from RED offers many benefits that no RED camera before it can claim, such as dual native sensitivity. This uniquely positions the GEMINI as RED’s best answer to a “take on all comers” approach.
Note: Though we don’t cover anamorphic shooting in this video, stay tuned for a future blog post where we explore this important aspect of GEMINI’s flexibility in detail, utilizing the full potential of its 4-perf Super35 imaging area.
