This full frame camera can record 4K files to either CFexpress Type A or SDXC media, the trade off in media choice being the top frame rate capability. The FX3 can record a baked-in look or S-Log 2/3 files and is equipped with S-Cinetone, which produces a cinematic look that does not require post color correction. The autofocus capability of the camera is excellent and includes both face and eye tracking.
Camera audio is supplied via a detachable carry handle with three-pin XLR connectors or through a miniplug connector on the side of the camera. Power is supplied either by the rechargeable Sony NP-FZ100 battery or by USB connection to an external power source. This is ideal when the camera needs to be powered for an extended amount of time. The FX3 does not have a viewfinder and relies on an LCD panel on the back of the camera for monitoring. Its compact size makes it ideal for tight spaces, and the magnesium alloy body provides an abundance of ¼-20 sockets for flexibility in mounting and rigging.
