I recently got a chance to take a closer look at Canon's premium Sumire cinema prime lenses. In this video, I'll provide some historical context for their development, an overview of design and performance, and many examples of their aesthetic and optical characteristics.
You'll also see some clips from my espionage thriller The Devil's Fortune, which I chose to shoot with the full set of Sumire Primes. The Sumires' distinctive aesthetic and consistency really enhanced our experience with them on set and brought an intense cinematic feel to the final footage.
